Next Friday, being Good Friday, is Oscar's 2nd Birthday eeeeeeep!

I can't believe it's been nearly 2 years since our little bundle of loveliness came into our life, party plans are well underway - this year we are having a 'low key' family party with a 'Train' theme.

I say 'low key' with my tongue in cheek - as I'm one of 6 children and Hubs is one of 4! So a low key family party is anything but!

This year I'm going to tackle the Women's Weekly Train cake, wish me luck - there may be photo's to come, lets just wait and see how it turns out!

Oscar 22+ months

Our 'baby'.....well he's no longer a baby! Oscar was 22 months last week and I can't believe how BIG he is getting!!

He is super tall for his age, so people think he's a bit older than he really is, he's just started throwing some spectacular tantrums, which as much as I try - I find them hilarious!!

It feels like only the other day that I was planning his first birthday party and now I'm getting ready to do it all over again, I've got a few ideas up my sleeve for his 2nd birthday, but we'll save that for another day.

Last week saw our annual racing carnival - the Launceston Cup come to town. I LOVE this time of year - it's the perfect opportunity to frock up and drink some serious bubbly.
Every year I go with my sister, it's a real family affair as our Dad has a tent right on the track and we spend the whole day drinking champagne, eating and betting. However, this year we were lucky enough to score tickets to a corporate tent, so we didn't hesitate ditching the family in favour of a few hours eating prawns and whoopie pies (see pic below)

We are both taller than Dad at the best of times but nothing like two of your daughters donning some HUGE high heels, to bruise the old mans ego!

Did you notice.................I had a little bloggy makeover - I really should have been knocking out some 50+ pairs of earrings for a wholesale order..............
So, what do you think?? I really wantted something a bit more streamlined and simple, I've decided I want to get the most out of my blog and start paying it more attention, So I'm *hoping* now that it looks a bit more prettier, we'll spend more time together.

I've gone deer mad, I'm not sure why, or when it happened - but I'm obsessed with deers. My dreams of owning a matching pair of alpacas has been replaced with a longing for a pet deer. True, I have NO room here for deer and I'm not even sure what to feed them, so for now I am making do with trawling ETSY for all things deer......

I like to think I'm an organised person - I do a weekly meal plan, I do my grocery shopping online to save time and the days I work I cook tea the night before or put something in the slow cooker that day.

However, come the weekend it kinda goes out the window a bit. I get up early both mornings and head off to the Gorge for a hike or go for a run - that's my hour of me time, the rest of the weekend is taken up with swimming, playing, catching up with friends etc. so come Sunday afternoon once Oscar goes down for a nap, I'm like a women possessed.

Take this afternoon for example I did washing, got it in and folded it. Re-arranged my wardrobe. Packed some orders. Did general housework, Cooked Banana & Sultana Muffins. Baked and Orange cake and now finally Ii'm sitting down to a glass of wine, while a Roast is cooking away in the oven.

How do you fit everything in on the weekends - family, friends, housework, cooking etc.? Are you last minute like me or are you SUPER organised all the time?

Resolutions

I'm not usually one for New Years Resolutions but this year I have vowed to get out and do more as a family, as a mum of an active toddler staying cooped up inside is not an option. So we've been having lots of visits to the pool, going on walks, feeding the ducks and grabbing gelato down by the waterfront.

We've just started getting into Kiddies Craft in our house, Oscar loves to draw and last week we cracked out the finger paints, he took awhile to get warmed up but then seemed to love it. Playdough however is a FAIL he doesn't seem to like to touch it. What kids craft do you do?

Business wise things are starting to heat up, I've just been accepted to have a stall at Niche - All Wrapped Up in November which just happens to be the same weekend we're going to Melbourne for Metallica, that will be one BUSY weekend.

I've also just launched a new website for my Apooki goodies, which has been months in the making.

A Touch of Green

For those who know me, I am severely lacking a green thumb! I have such good intentions when it comes to plants but they just don't seem to like me. So thats why it is very exciting that we have finally planted a vegie garden, and touch wood one month in I seem to have kept most of our new vegie babies alive.

We started off with buying this little green house for hubby for Fathers Day, now its chock a block with various herbs and a strawberry plant but originally we kept all of our seedlings in there till they grew a bit and the weather warmed up a bit.

So far we have planted various lettuces, pak choy, tomatoes, pumpkin, snow peas, capsicums and zuccinis.

And a nice little cherry tomatoe plant on the balcony. What have you planted?

Time seems to go soooooo quickly, before I know it I'll be packing Oscar off to school *sob* my baby has just turned 17 months and is certainly keeping us on our toys - currently his favourite past time is dancing on the coffee table, if you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to know my husband you'll understand this is just the start of the larrikin behaviour I can expect from my boy.

After a extended blog hiatus, I'm back......for good (hopefully). The last few months have been quite the rollercoaster for us here at Apooki HQ, we've had sickness, the passing of my beautiful Nan Toby and just recently my little one Oscar had a Kidney operation. Things are getting back on track now and life is slowly slotting back into some kind of resembelence of normal, so I vow to Blog ALOT more often...........oh and HUGE thanks for sticking with me :)

Time is passing me by in such a blur at the moment, I want to yell at it to SLOW DOWN. The last month has been crammed full of some fun things - mine and hubbies birthdays, our wedding anniversary and a little break away and some not so fun things, which i'll tell you about later. But for now to celebrate our second wedding anniversary I'll leave you with some pics of our wedding in Palm Cove 2 years ago........and yes we eloped, just the two of us, and I wouldn't change a thing :)

Last Thurday our little man turned 1, to celebrate we headed off to the Tasmanian Zoo. Oscar is already an avid pet lover, having two big puppies at home and a puddy cat whom he can't get enough off, we knew he would love the animals at The Zoo. We were right, he patted a little Tassie Devil named Winkee, fed a little wallaby, stuck his fingers in a goats mouth and shared his tiny teddies with some chooks. So all in all a very successful 1st Birthday!!

My baby turned one yesterday!! The last year has positively flown by, it seems like not that long ago we were bringing our little bundle home to meet our puppies! He's no longer a baby anymore :( - he's walking and talking and when I say 'no' he shakes his head at me, he's so darn cheeky and we love him to bits.

Yesterday we celebrated his birthday by taking him to the Tasmanian Zoo (pictures to come) where he patted a Tassie Devil named Winkie and stuck his finger in a goats mouth, he fed little baby wallabies and shared his tiny teddies with some Chooks, all in all it was a successful day.

Tomorrow is party day, so I'm currently enjoying a BIG mug of coffee and some piece and quiet before I start a day of mad baking in preparation for his circus themed party tomorrow. What's your Friday like?

This is something I have been pondering a lot lately, so I'm asking you - do you have the perfect work/life balance going on? And if you do, I want tips people. I am overwhelmed, I have a wonderfully full life, but at times it's overwhelming! The scale tipper for me is, I'm joining the gym again and I'm trying to slot it into my already chocka-block timetable of working, crafting, and looking after my little family. So I want to know how you all do it, how do you fit it all in and still remain sane!!

My 'baby' is 10 months old......people always told me that time flies when they are little, but I didn't quite realise just how quickly that time flies! It seemed like not longer ago that we were nervously bringing him home, now there is no stopping him - he's into everything. He has a wicked sense of humour and an equally wicked temper, both of which are from his Daddy! In just 2 months he'll be ONE, if only we called press 'pause' for just a little bit.....

Got my spotty patient home!!! We got to pick him up from the vet Sunday lunch time, we were all very excited, until we got the $3800 bill *heart attack*, but it's worth it to still have him with us, just gotta pull my finger out and sell precisely 542.85 pairs of earrings!!

I am being kept busy waiting on the little devil hand and foot - 5 little meals a day, antibiotics twice a day, bathing his wounds twice a day and cuddles, cuddles, cuddles. All the while the Husband is living it up in Melbourne at ACDC.

Gotta fly, I am pathetically addicted to My Restuarant Rules.

I have been absent from the world of blogging lately, as some of you know we've had a very sick dog. He's been at the vet for over a week now, has had two operations and is missing a third of his bowel and many kilos lighter it has been a horrible week as we have waited to see if he was going to make it, well it's looking good he has started to eat today and looks like he is going to pull through Woohooooooo we may even have him home by Sunday, just in time for Valentines Day. We have missed him desperately the last week, even though we have been visiting him twice a day, our pets are a HUGE part of our family and they mean the world to us. I'll be going to see him again shortly and will be taking his pj's with me, he feels the cold at the best of times and always has to sleep under a blanket and wears pj's in winter, so seeings as he's lot soo much weight and is feeling rather miserable we thought his little monkey pajamas would be rather comforting for him tonight.
Hopefully all the other animals wont tease him too much hehe!

Once of our babies is very sick, our dalmatian Wyslon has been at the vet since Friday, he somehow ingested a long piece of plastic material which had to be removed from his stomach and bowel, in the process the vet had to remove 1/3 of his bowel and the rest is quite badly damaged, at the moment it's just a waiting game to see if he'll be ok. This post is a way of passing the time as I can't ring the vet to check on him for another 45 MINUTES and I'm TERRIBLE at waiting. I'll leave you with some of my favourite photos of our little spotty fella.

Here are some long awaited snapshots from our little getaway that we took over Christmas. We bundled the baby and the dogs in the car and headed to a little slice of heaven in dolphin sands. Sandisland is a 2 bedroom beach house on 2 acres right on 9 mile beach and the best part is it's totally dog friendly.

Hello, remember me............. i have been busy enjoying this:Now that i'm back at work Part-Time, i cherish the days at home with Oscar, he is at a magical age, where everything is exciting. He has his first two teeth now, Dadadadad is his favourite (and only) word, and he's loving finger food (me not so much!!) The downside of all this is i'm not getting alot of crafty things made. However I did manage to squeeze in my second Civic Homespun Market last weekend. If you missed me last week, I will be there again on the 12th & 19th of December.

I need to apologise......my blogs have been few and fair between lately and for that I'm sorry, BUT I had a very good reason - I had my FIRST market stall at the Civic Homespun Market at the Pilgrim Hall last saturday and was busy, busy, busy making thousands ( or maybe just hundreds) of fabric button goodies and sewing my little owls. And it was a HUGE success, I was quite nervous not knowing what to expect, but i'm really happy with how it went and have already planned my next one on the 21st of this month.

Here's mock up of my table that I did the day before, I changed it slightly on the day with some fresh flowers and I had more earrings and slides on display.

Exciting Times!!

Exciting things are happening here both on the store front and the home front. We now have a baby who is rolling and wriggling all over the place, we put him down now and turn around and he's gone, we found him in his cot earlier, on his stomach playing with his teddies....very cute.

His first swimming lesson on Saturday was a huge success, he had an absolute ball, they sang songs and jumped off the side of the pool (with help from Daddy)he was totally worn out by the time we got home and crashed out all afternoon. The weather has been gorgeous over the weekend, which meant we could finally crack out the Baby Hav's!!

Also, my brain is ticking overtime on new things for the store, more about that later. xxx

Did you all know it's less than 8 weeks till Christmas!! Crazy....I know. We are super excited here in our household for Christmas as we get to share it with our 6 month old baby boy Oscar (he'll be 8 months by then)and to celebrate I have a Christmas super special on my Madeit Store Head on over and grab 3 pairs of earrings or hairslide and get a 4th pair FREE, ideal stocking fillers for Christmas!

Our annual Oktoberfest celebrations are over for another year. Saturday passed in a blur of beer, games, schnappes and a potent vodka fountain. Thank goodness it's only a yearly event, it takes that long to recover!

It was a nice day here today, so we packed the Baby in the car and headed to Punchbowl Reserve so I could take some new photos for my store I'm pretty pleased with the results too, theres just a few more I need to take on Wednesday if the weather is good. I've also loaded a tonne of new stuff and still more to come tomorrow.... but for now I'm off to bed and i'll leave you with a peak at some of the piccies I took today. Night night x

Meet Wylson

Meet Wylson, He is our first born! He turns 4 next Friday. He is a beautiful quirky spotty dog. Wylson likes long walks on the beach, he's petrified of thunder, and cats make him squeal, he likes to have porridge for breakfast and snacks on carrot ends and apples. He wears pj's to bed and has to have a blanket over him to sleep. He smiles....alot, lately he likes to smile at the baby and the cat, however the cat does not smile back :-( He is always trying to sneak into our bedroom so he can curl up on our bed with his spotty backside on my pillow. Wylson we love you, you big goofy clown xxx

Spring has finally sprung

Finally it felt like Spring over the weekend, we had two glorious days, which we spent mostly in the garden, which was looooong overdue. I went on a rampage removing trees, pruning crazy plants and getting a touch sunburnt.

I moved Oscar's bouncer over in front of the door while I tidied up the deck, so he too could enjoy the lovely fresh air. His spotty little sidekick loves a good sunbake and is never too far from Oscars side, very cute!

Well back to work for me tomorrow after 7 months of maternity leave, it's a bittersweet day as I'm really looking forward to getting back into work, but not looking forward to leaving my little fella. I'm only going back part time, so it's not too bad and tomorrow he'll be at home with his Dad for the day. I expect to get home tomorrow night and find them still in their pj's.

As promised my answers to the questions you guys wanted to know about ME!

Q. Have you always lived in Tasmania?
A. Yes, sad I know. Launceston girl through and through. Did live in Hobart for a few years in Primary School but glad to move back North at the start of High School.

Q. Which parts of Tassie are must see?
A. This is an extremely biased answer and everyone has different answers to this question. I'm yet to see all of this beautiful state, so I can only recommend what I know.

1. Bay of Fires, some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Been camping here since I was a moody teenager and shall always have a soft spot for this little slice of paradise.

2. Freycinet/Coles Bay, I'm an East Coast girl and love most of the Eastern side of this lovely state. Freycinet is well worth a visit, to see the Hazards which are the beautiful rocky mountains over shadowing the bright blue waters of Coles Bay and then there the walk into Wineglass Bay, well worth the effort, you might even be lucky and spot a pod of dolphins.

3. Cradle Mountain is beautiful all year round, but theres nothing better than waking up in your own little Chalet and seeing everything outside coated in white. Last time we were up there we had a visit from a very friendly little possum which knocked on our sliding door, and needless to say scared the daylights out of us. Cradle Mountain isn't complete without a walk around Dove Lake.

4. Lastly, a bit closer to home is the Cataract Gorge, where else in this country do you find somewhere this beautiful only a 5 minute walk from the city centre.

Q.When did your creativeness start, what are your inspirations?

A.I wont lie, i haven't always been a creative person, it hit me probably ten years ago when I started making beaded jewellery, I needed a hobby and that was what i tried. I still have boxes of beads stored in the shed that I never got around to using! I moved on to custom made T'Shirts mainly made for myself and friends, then life got very busy and crafty projects kinda took a back seat. I've recently got back into crafting in the form of fabric button earrings and accessories, being on maternity leave gave me plenty of time to take up hobbies again, and i'm having sooo much fun with it. My inspirations are visiting Handmade markets and trawling through goodies on Madeit & Etsy, there are so many talented people out their, making a living out of doing something they love.

Blogtoberfest Oktoberfest

I thought I'd celebrate Blogtoberfest by posting some photos from our annual Oktoberfest party that we have at a friends party every year. Costume & Beer Steins are mandatory!!

This is last years party, I think I was about 3 1/2 months pregnant with Oscar, you can't see him, he was hiding under my little blue apron!

Our friends make their own Shnappes in heaps of different flavours, and every hour everyone has to have a shot of one, it can get quite messy. Last year I had the lovely job of handing out the shots as I couldn't indulge in any.

This photo was the year before, you can just see me on the far right, yes it's me I was once brunette!

Oh and thanks for the questions from my last post, I will be answering them all in tomorrows post. YAY for Blogtoberfest!

As an avid GEELONG supporter since I was 4 I was very pleased to wake up to the news this morning that Gary Ablett took out the Brownlow Medal last night. Now all we need to do is give St Kilda a good ole butt kicking on Saturday!! Actually i'm a bit torn about this, my Dad is a HUGE St Kilda supporter and he is going over to watch the game, so i'd kinda like St Kilda to win for my Dad!

Had my hands full with a sick baby the last few days, but we seem to have got through the worst of it! Whilst said baby was sleeping today I managed to get my FIRST custom order for earrings done today - the very lovely Bec at *onewiseowl* sent me some gorgeous fabric to make into earrings for her. I packaged up a few other orders, including the parcels for the two lucky winners of last weeks giveaway. Heres a pic of what my dining table looked like today!!

We were up with the sparrows this morning, hence the coffee cup, which was one of many that helped me through today!

Fathers Day Wrap-up

Fathers Day is over for another year, and what a tiring (but lovely) day it was. Of course it was the husbands first Fathers Day, which was very exciting, so we started the day off we some bacon and eggs. Unfortunately our planned bbq at the park with the rest of my family was moved to our house as the weather wasn't the best. It worked out fine though as my dad is a HUGE St Kilda fan so he got to watch the game. So I will leave you with some photos of my dad and his 2 grandchildren - Oscar and his little cousin Gracie who is 2 months younger.

We have beeen having a bit of a struggle with Oscar and food, he definetely hates Baby Cereal and it's not growing on him at all, which I hardly blame him. We moved on to pumpkin last week, which we ended up with more all over us than in his mouth (see pic) but yesterday we had a break through, he actually opened his mouth ready for the pumpkin and didn't spit it out. The problem is tomorrow we are moving on to carrot and so the cycle begins again!

Mmmmm Chocolate Cake

I have a yummy chocolate cake cooking in the oven and it smells superb. My husband is a crazy chocoholic, he ransacked the house last night in search of the sweet stuff, needless to say he did not find any!! I was suprised when I noticed the Dog Chocolates had survived!! So anyway, I know that a chocolate cake isn't really in keeping with this but I did walk around town today shopping, so that was a bit of exercise and I met a friend for lunch and had a healthy salad roll!!

Coffee with a friend this morning, she's working in the area this morning. So will be dropping by for a visit when she's done. We have been friends for 11 years now, and celebrated our 10 year anniversary last year by going to Cradle Mountain for the night, we were nice and took our husbands with us.

She's such a beautiful friend and would do anything for you, today she's also going to be taking some more of my earrings with her to sell to her workmates!! What a gem

So my weightloss challenge lasted all of.......................6 hours. I just has THE biggest piece of cake. Although I only said I wouldn't eat chocolate, didn't mention cake!! I saw on tv this morning that one chocolate bar takes 1 hour of exercise to work off. I'm guessing this particular piece of cake would probably take about 13 hours *smacks own hand*

Operation Fat Mum Slim

* Some form of exercise everyday, even if its just walking the dogs round the block!
* No more chocolate - Husband is a bit of a sweet tooth and has been bringing a block of chocolate home most days.....very naughty
* No more Coke Zero, this addiction began whilst I was pregnant and its a habit I'm finding hard to kick.

So I will be checking in every Monday for the next 6 weeks to tell you how I'm going and lets see if I can put a dent in this baby weight I'm still carrying around!

.........this crazy tasmanian weather to clear up!! We have been cooped up inside for days, hence the photo above of us playing on the bed! Queensland is being hit by a heat wave and down this end of the Country we're having floods, go figure. There was a quick break in the weather earlier, so we took the opportunity to take the dogs for a walk but had to cut it short when the skies opened up.......mmm i think a holiday to somewhere sunny and warm is in order :-)

This weekend was a rather boring and mundane one I'm afraid. The husband worked all weekend, so Oscar and I were left to our own devices. The weather was terrible, it has been raining here for days now and parts of Launceston are now flooded (see pic). So we were stuck inside. We did duck out to spotlight to pick up some fabric and glue gun sticks and I managed to resemble a drowned rat by the time I had buckled Oscar back into his car seat.

Sorry I went AWOL there for a bit, things have been so busy here lately. Oscar was 17 weeks old yesterday and he is just so joyous to be around, so as you can imagine everything else has been a bit neglected. We have woken up to a beautiful day down in Tassie today, so once breakfast is over with we are going to take the dogs for a lovely walk.

Here is a pic of them, Wyslon is the big spotty Dalmatian, and Roxy is the little Kelpie x Dalmatian. Roxy is the smart one and Wylson is a bit of a goof ball!!

12 weeks old yesterday!!!

Oh how time flies!! My little bundle of mischief was 12 weeks old yesterday. (excuse the dribble in the photo!!) He is at a beautiful age of constant smile and giggles and he loves to chat away to his toys when lying in his cot! According to his Dad he rolled over last weekend while they were playing in the our bed, I'm yet to see it happen again so I'm a bit sceptical!! Oscar has just started grabbing at his toys and I'm wondering if he is starting to teeth, he is very dribbly and is always shoving his hands in his mouth and chewing on them, it's quite amusing to watch him try to fit both hands in his mouth at once!

Date Night

So today is Tuesday and that means date night with my sister. We get together every Tuesday night to watch Australia's Next Top Model, so we can bitch and bag out the girls we don't like.
